RE: [xmca] History of Child Learning with/in Virtual Worlds

David Shaffer at the University of Wisconsin is studying "epistemic games" -- "computer and video games in which players become professionals to develop innovative and creative ways of thinking."http://epistemicgames.org/eg/category/people/david-williamson-shaffer/
He wrote a book entitled "How Computer Games Help Children Learn" as well.
Hope that's helpful,Elisabeth McClureBeckman Institute, UIUC

In the UK Jackie Marsh has been looking at young children's use of virtual worlds (penguin club, Barbie World). You can find out more  at http://digitalbeginnings.blogspot.com/2009/05/literacy-in-virtual-worlds.html

All the best,

Rod
