In seeking to understand cross-cultural comparisons within a developmental framework, the question of the relation between LSV's ideas and those of Heinz Werner/ Levy Bruhl/Piaget and others has come up. The issue are important but frought. For those interested, i am posting an article by werner and kaplan that appeared some time ago ( :-) ) in the *American Anthropologist* and some followup. Seems relevant to the topic. mike
